Massachusetts CEOs downbeat about state of economy
- Only 32% see the national economy as growing compared to six months ago.
65% see economy shrinking (29%) or no change (36%)
- Only 27% see the state economy growing.
69% see state economy shrinking (25%) or no change (44%)

Conducted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell Poll
Only 32% of CEOs perceived the national economy as growing; and only 27% perceived the state economy as growing. In contrast, 65% perceived the national economy - and 69% perceived the state economy - as either staying the same or shrinking.
"We see these results as underscoring the overall weakness of the economic recovery right now," said David Terkla, an economics professor at UMass Boston, who is a member of the MEAAP analytical team.
